About Dr. Rupak Desai
Dr. Rupak Desai, MBBS, is a physician–scientist trained in India and currently based in the United States.He serves as a Research Associate in the Division of Cardiology at the Atlanta VA Medical Center (affiliated with Emory University) and holds an academic appointment at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Permian Basin.
His expertise includes cardiovascular outcomes, health disparities, behavioral and mental health epidemiology, and large-scale database analytics.
He has conducted research on PCI, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, and published meta-analyses on COVID-19 outcomes.
His work also explores social isolation, psychiatric illness, and substance use in relation to heart health.
Dr. Desai’s research has appeared in leading journals including Cardiovascular Diagnosis & Therapy, International Journal of Cardiology, JCO Global Oncology, and IJC Heart & Vasculature.
